YOUR JOURNEY
The Journey
Bali begins it, an island of small offerings and daily prayer. Temples crowd the cliffs at Uluwatu, rice terraces step down the valleys in their patient green, and the surf folds onto black and gold sand. In Ubud the air carries incense and gamelan, the days moving between the sacred and the sensory, the volcano's dawn and the dancer's turn.
A short crossing eastward, and the world thins. Lombok waits behind its quiet bays, ruled by the great cone of Rinjani and threaded with Sasak villages that live much as they have for centuries. The Gilis float offshore like three green thoughts, and the water is clear enough to forget the rest of the world exists.
The journey ends among the rusted hills and pink sands of Komodo, where the dragons still walk in the heat of the afternoon and manta rays drift through living reefs. Between the islands the boat carries you through coves that feel found rather than visited, and Indonesia shows itself at its most ancient and elemental.
